Afghanistan Humanitarian Crisis
The Taliban took control of Kabul, Afghanistan on Sunday amid the chaotic evacuation of the Afghan national government and Western diplomats. The humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan continues to rapidly deteriorate as the situation in Kabul and the future of the country remains uncertain. An estimated 72,000 children and their families have arrived in Kabul fleeing the violence of the Taliban takeover of the country. Many are living on the streets without access to food, water, shelter, or basic hygiene to prevent disease outbreaks. Without immediate action, 2021 will be the deadliest year of conflict for Afghans in over a decade. World leaders must scale up funding and use their diplomatic muscle to ensure aid workers can continue to access communities in need. We as humans have an obligation to raise our voice and act on this humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Your activism can start from this very website.
